Hand Tool Finish
Sustainably sourced lumber, carefully handcrafted using traditional tools and joinery. Each piece is shaped with hand tools such as hand planes, spokeshaves, rasps, travishers and scorps that add warmth to the finished product.
Made to last
Each piece is designed and crafted with a lifetime of use in mind. I work with solid wood, sourced and carefully selected from locally harvested timber from sustainable forests.
The joinery is strengthened with wedged or pinned tenons and hide glue. Unlike modern glue, hide glue is reversible and was historically used on furniture, allowing for quality repairs on antique furniture.
Natural Finish
The pieces are finished with soft wax, soap, oil, or linseed oil paint. Often found on antique furniture, these finishes show off a lovely patina and warmth that develops with age. The finishes can be reapplied and contain no dangerous solvents, making touch ups in the future safe and simple.

Claire’s favorites
Inspired by shaker designs, this petite stool has a graceful silhouette. The 9-10'‘ diameter makes it easy to move around and fit into small spaces. Use the stool next to a chair to hold a drink, as a bedside table, by the door to put shoes on, or as a plant stand. If you have a cat, place it next to a window to enhance their birdwatching views (satisfaction guaranteed).
It may appear small, but don’t shy away from sitting on it. The legs are sawn from straight grain for maximum strength, followed by hand planes to shape into a round double taper. Small facets can be felt along the legs, remnants from hand tools.
Assembled with wedged mortise and tenon joinery, this is a strong and sturdy stool. The joinery is drilled by hand and shaped with hand tools, therefore minor difference may occur. This is part of the beauty of handmade work; no two pieces will be exactly the same.
The stool is 9.25” diameter, 17” tall, and 11” footprint. While built to these dimensions, minor variations (.25”) can occur due to the handmade nature. The stool diameter and height can be adjusted upon request when ordering.
Available in white oak, red elm, ash and cherry.
Finished with non-toxic Soft Wax, a blend of beeswax and raw linseed oil, made by Lost Art Press.
